(Adoption Pending!) TART rescued Bonita from a North Texas shelter and she was placed in a home where she proved to be too energetic for her new canine sibling and is being returned to TART. Bonita is also demonstrating separation anxiety, but that is not uncommon for a dog who has been through high stress like she encountered at the shelter. We have seen many instances where this behavior disappears once a dog feels confident and secure.
What we know of her background: After being picked up as a stray on a farm, Bonita jumped right into a passerby's truck, eager for some human contact! Bonita was described by shelter personnel as the class clown and high energy. She will definitely keep you on your toes! Do you have a cat? No worries with Bonita, she has been cat tested and she did great!
In addition to lots of love, structure and security, Bonita needs a good size yard and ample opportunities for mental and physical activity.
Her current caretakers have said that Bonita loves to hike and does not pull on her leash. She LOVES to play fetch and they confirmed she is good with cats. Bonita is VERY loving and gives lots of kisses and wants to be petted and close to her people. Bonita is unhappy in a crate and will do best in a non-crate household.
**As a Texas rescue, TART gives priority to Texas applicants who "fit" the individual dog’s adoption needs. If you do not live in the State of Texas and you would like to apply to adopt this dog, please check with your own state’s Airedale rescue organization first and see if there is an Airedale waiting for you right around the corner. To be approved as an adopter from another state, we will need to contact your state’s rescue organization and get their approval which may or may not be granted.**
