(Adoption Pending)

Luna Quick Facts: Luna is still very much in “Puppy Mode” •   DOB: 9-20-23  •   33 lbs (as of early August) •  Microchipped  •  Good with cats (will chase if they run but respects them if they don’t and brings them toys to try and get them to play with her) •  Loves children, experience with 6 and 8 year olds   •  Heart worm negative/on preventative Simparico   •   Housebroken but having occasional accidents

Pedigree: Luna’s breeder is Jurado Reyes, Rey Dale Terriers and the father for Luna is a Westminster Champion.

Luna is being surrendered due to her energy level that right now seems endless to her non-Airedale experienced owners.

Luna’s first owner crated her throughout the day and as a result, her activity level was over the top when she was finally allowed out. Their lack of time to dedicate to her needs motivated them to give her to a close family member (current owner). Current owners are a retired couple who are home all of the time. She lives on 1.3 acres and Luna loves to run on the property and chase tennis balls both outside and inside. The current owners have had her about 2 ½ months and are also finding her too much dog for them. Luna has been a “first Airedale” for both her owners.

Luna plays well with the current owners new husky until he is tired and tries to hide from her. Luna is good with other dogs and just wants to play.

Luna has been groomed twice and enjoyed the experience and was good with the groomer.

Luna has pooped in the house 4 x’s in the last two months and peed twice since they got the new dog (the Husky) even though they take her out every 3 hours and take her out for 30 minutes before bed time. She sneaks off and does it. The current owners have not been back to the vet to check and see if Luna has a UTI.

Current owners have gotten a private trainer out 3 X’s.  Luna learns quickly, sits on command and does not pull on the leash, but she is in constant motion and gets bored easily, continuously bringing them a toy for them to play with her.

Luna has no problems traveling in a car.

Luna like Himalayan yak chews and antler bones.

Luna’s Biggest Challenges:

Luna has a robust prey drive and noses into everything. Trash cans must be kept out of her reach. As with most young Airedales, Luna is mouthy and likes to put anything she gets a hold of in her mouth. Luna can play ball or chase outside until she is tired but she revives after about 20 minutes and is ready to play again. Luna will grab loose fabric like a shirt or toys with dangling fabric.

What a New Adopter will Love about Luna:

Luna is very sweet and affectionate. She loves to be petted and will put her head in your lap for more pets. She thinks she is a lap dog and loves to be in your lap. Luna brings toys to her owners.

An ideal next home for Luna would be a very active, committed couple who will train with Luna to do some sport together, agility, jogging, something active daily that stimulates her and engages her physically and mentally. She needs at least one person home with her most days providing her the love, activity and foundation of training she needs as she gets through her puppy phase. Airedale experience and/or training experience is preferable.
